If you've never tried wax melts before, you're in for a treat. And if you already use them, you already know why we carry them alongside our candle line. Wax melts are one of the easiest, most flexible ways to fill your home with fragrance, and there's no flame involved.
What Are Wax Melts?
Wax melts are small pieces of scented wax meant to be warmed rather than burned. You place them in a wax warmer, which uses either a low-wattage bulb or a small tea light to gently heat the wax from below. As it melts, it releases fragrance into the room. Because there's no open flame consuming the wax, melts tend to throw scent differently than candles often stronger and more immediate and the fragrance lasts until the scent is fully released, not until the wax disappears.
How Do You Use Them?
Break off one or two cubes and place them in the dish of your warmer. Turn it on or light the tea light underneath, and within a few minutes your room will start filling with fragrance. When the scent fades after several uses, the wax has done its job. Let it cool, pop it out, and replace it with a fresh piece. That's really all there is to it.
Wax Melts vs. Candles
Neither is better than the other — they just serve different purposes.
Wax melts are great when you want fragrance without an open flame, which makes them ideal for homes with pets or small children, or spaces where candles aren't practical. They're also perfect when you like switching scents often or want strong immediate fragrance without waiting for a candle to warm up.
Candles are great when you want the warmth and ambiance of an actual flame, a slower more relaxed scent experience, or a gift that feels special. And obviously, if there's a silver coin hiding inside, a candle is the only way to find it.
A lot of people keep both around and use them for different situations, which is exactly what we do ourselves.
Are Stars and Cents Wax Melts Soy?
Yes. Just like our candles, our wax melts are made with 100% soy wax. No paraffin, no synthetic fillers. Soy holds fragrance oil well and melts cleanly, which means a better scent experience from the first warm to the last.
How Many Cubes Should You Use?
Start with one or two cubes for an average room. For larger open spaces you may want to run two warmers or add an extra cube. It's easy to dial in once you get a feel for your warmer and the size of your space.
